College Counseling

Student Development Advisor

As the Student Development Advisor for High School, it is my pleasure to meet with 9th-12th grade students, assisting them with their college applications. I am here to guide you and your parents through the application process. Selecting the right university can be timely and challenging. All students are encouraged to register with the following web-based organizations, valuable information can be accessed from these sites as well as weekly newsletters sent right to your email. (search “college admissions”)

It is important to begin applying for college during your Junior year, it should not be postponed until your Senior year. I am available to meet with parents and students as early as 9th grade. Remember every quarter counts!

Checklist for studying in the United States

  • GPA: Keep your grades up! Aim for a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • PSAT: Make sure you take the PSAT at least once before 12th grade! It is offered in 9th -11th grades in October.
  • SAT or ACT: You must take one or the other during your Junior year and if necessary, again in the fall of your Senior year. + SAT: + ACT:
  • Resume: Maintain a continuous resume, complete with paid or volunteer opportunities (secular and non-secular), extra-curricular activities, honors, recognitions, talents and languages.
  • University Visits: Numerous universities will come to Tegucigalpa to recruit. Students need to take this opportunity to meet with the recruiters in person and become better informed. This is also a great time to take parents and have their concerns addressed, directly from the university.
